Future waste management

Optibag is the world leader in optical sorting of household waste and we continue to be the most knowledgeable in terms of household collection. Our goal is to reduce environmental impact; we achieve this by constantly developing our products to become more efficient and profitable.

For over 20 years, Optibag has worked to develop efficient methods for optical sorting of household waste. We continually challenge the technology’s boundaries and constantly focus on delivering state-of-the-art plants.

Bags

Bags

Optibag works closely with customers and suppliers to develop new environmentally friendly waste collection bags. Source separation should be simple and with good quality bags, the recycling process can be simplified even more.

Sorting near the source is important to us and that the user feels comfortable with the bags they use. In the future, maybe we have bags made of the same material as the content?

Sensor technology

Sensor technology

Sensor technology gives us quick and accurate readings of the materials in our plants. We are constantly working to further develop and improve the identification of materials, such as NIR technology, image readings, metal detection and new sensor technology.

With the help of sensor technology, we also prepare for “Internet of Things” (IoT). The goal is to further streamline operations to reduce stops, increase flexibility and get a higher sorting accuracy – and thus better capacity.

Material handling

Material handling

We work with the whole process, from the separation of loose materials to more efficient feeding of materials to sorting robots.

To get the highest possible capacity, sorting accuracy and efficiency, we are developing new methods for presenting the material to the sorting machines. We also develop different methods of opening large bags and separating the bags from the content.

BIG DATA

BIG DATA

In the future our objective is to individual label the bags to identifying e.g. content, household, and tracks the bags throughout the process. The information can then be linked to the bill and premium those who reduce their waste or sort into more fractions.

The residents will also be able to get feedback via an app. It will be possible to provide feedback on how a household sorts and information about individual rates.

Programming

Programming

By continuously developing the plants program system, we can increased productivity and improving workplace safety.

Thanks to automated control and follow-up of statistics, the plant owner gets detailed knowledge and better opportunities to review their process. Automation increases quality and productivity.

Plant technology

Plant technology

We want our customers to have a simple and profitable waste management system therefore we look to the whole process as we develop new features.

We work with our customers to increase utilization in their plant; Optibag has chosen to work with MaintMaster’s CMMS, Computerized Maintenance Management System.
