The newest optical sorting plant in Ljungby, Sweden

The latest optical sorting plant in Ljungby, Sweden has now been taken in to commercial operation.  The municipalities that deliver to the Bredemad Recycling Center are now ready to achieve the EU’s environmental goals of collecting 50% of all household food waste. The plant sort’s food waste that is source separated in a green bag. Right from the start, the plant meets the set sorting targets of 95%, both in sorting accuracy1) and sorting efficiency2)

  • Sorting accuracy is defined as out of 100 bags, at least 95 are detected and sorted from the main waste stream.
  • Sorting efficiency is defined such that at most 5 bags are wrongly sorted from a set of 100 bags, i.e. at most 5 non-green bags among 100 bags in total which were sorted from the main waste stream.
